Cristie Taylor Porras is a Panama based fine arts photographer working anywhere she can.
Cristie Taylor Porras was born May 11th 1980 in the Republic of Panama. Ever since she has lived around the world, always returning home to Panama. She began her studies in Photography in 1994 at the American School in London England, though her passion for this art form began long before as a child when she received her first pinhole camera from her father.
Cristie received a bachelorette degree in Psychology and Spanish Civilizations with a minor in Photography from the University of Texas in Austin in the United States in 2002. Furthermore she has a Masters in Education with specialization in Psychology and Counseling from the University of Louisville, which she received in 2005, and a Masters in Business Administration with Emphasis in Entrepreneurship from the same University, which she completed in 2007. In 2011 she completed her Masters in Photography, Art and Technique at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia in Spain.
Since 2002 she has been practicing as a professional photographer while building parallel careers in psychology and business. During that time she participated in a number of expositions of which the most notable are the Austin Co-Op Collective in Austin Texas in 2001, The solo Exposition “Mi Pais en Blanco y Negro” at the Union Club in Panama in 2002, which was also displayed at the Aleph in Panama in 2003. She has been published and interviewed for articles in several papers in her country such as La Prensa, El Panama America, and El Universal.
Her last two big projects took place in 2006 and 2010. In 2006 she did a commercial project for DJ Edward Allen in which she photographed him for his debut CD, website, and billboards for his sponsors Ecko. Unltd. In 2010 she participated in her last showing to date. Superwoman, was shown in the FEM collective in Valencia, Spain and published as a book by Artemisa Ediciones. She is currently working on a new project related to Alter Egos, titled “¿Quien Te Crees?” it was her thesis project and remains unfinished to this day. Since her return from Spain she has worked purely on commercial projects, dedicating most of her time to her young daughter and other businesses ventures. We hope to see a new personal project coming soon.
